Another inventive kit from Craftiosity – wildflower glass engraving. This kit shows you how to add a handmade personal touch to everyday glassware. It’s surprisingly easy and (with a bit of practice) can be really effective.

Included in the kit was:
- Hi-ball drinking glasses x2
- Glass engraving tool
- White carbon paper
- Paper design

It was a little daunting to engrave directly onto the glasses without having a practice on something else first, but the more I did, the more confident I became. You can tell the difference between my first and second glass because I used more pressure to create a deeper engraving, which makes the design stand out more clearly. Actually making a mark on the glass was a lot easier than I was expecting it to be, although I did slip around quite a bit to begin with.
The carbon paper was used to transfer the design onto the glass, but it did rub off very easily so you had to be careful about only peeling back the section you were working on to avoid losing your design. It was definitely good to have a guide and not have to freestyle it though. I think my piece would have been disastrous if that were the case! The instructions were easy to follow and full of great hints and tips. I found the tip about putting some dark material or paper inside the glass to help see the template lines better very helpful.

I really liked this kit. It wasn’t messy, it was fairly quick to complete, it was a skill I hadn’t tried before, and it adds a really nice touch to an otherwise everyday object. I’m looking forward to enjoying some summery cocktails in these!
