Citrus Fruit Stencilled Apron – Craftiosity

I really enjoyed this printing kit from Craftiosity. It’s giving off all the summer vibes, even if we don’t have the weather to go with it! The colours are zingy and really pop out on the white apron.

Included in the kit was:

  • Paper templates
  • Craft knife
  • Ink pads x2 (tangerine, lemon yellow)
  • Apron

This was such a quick project to do, I would say I completed it in less than an hour. Of course, there is overnight drying time and then ironing to heat set the ink, but the actual process of cutting the stencils and printing on the apron was a great little activity. It was also such a great way to do printing without getting in a huge mess! Using the ink pads to apply the colour to the fabric took away any need for brushes or rollers, or even washing up at the end. I did put down newspaper because sometimes fabric ink can seep through, and I wanted to protect my table. I also used a cutting mat for cutting out the stencils.

I decided to cut out two of each stencil at the beginning. The instructions said to just cut out one of each and then cut another later if the first one got too saturated with ink, but I wanted to get the cutting section of the project finished so I could focus on the printing (the fun bit!). I actually found it quite helpful to have the four stencils when laying out my design, it was useful to visualise how it would look in the end.

The ink pads were starting to run out for the last few prints that I did as they were quite small, but I would definitely consider buying some more for a future printing project. This kit was from the Craftiosity monthly subscription.
