I haven’t had a chance over the last couple of months to do many craft kits for various reasons, but in the run up to Christmas I always like to make as much time as possible for crafting as it’s my favourite way to spend time. I was pleased that the winter Craftpod came well in time for Christmas so I can display the things I’ve made as part of my holiday décor! There were two projects in this season’s box; a winter landscape embroidery, and a polar bear figurine.
Included in the box was:
- White felt (large and small pieces)
- Brown felt
- Brown linen
- Embroidery thread x4 (brown, rust, grey, white)
- Fleece
- Embroidery hoop
- Needle
- Pins
- Cardboard scenery

The winter landscape embroidery was in a tiny three inch hoop and it was so cute to stitch. Layering the felt over the linen made it quite bulky to start with, but once there was some stitching over the top it settled down. The most difficult part of the project was sewing without the hoop on to create the plants at the bottom and the chimney smoke at the top. Although this was tricky it was definitely effective for the design to have the image leaving the frame, rather than stopping at the edge.

The polar bear was a longer project but the instructions were easy to follow and it was very similar to the badger project from last year’s autumn box. The addition of the scarf and blanket was very sweet as without them the polar bear did look a bit naked! I decided to name mine Burt and I love that he comes with his own scenery of a snowy vista of the night sky filled with stars. I really liked the idea of poking holes in the constellations so that a backing light would shine through to twinkle down on him.

Another lovely box from Craftpod! The projects they include always feel fresh and I’m excited to complete them. I usually sign up for a yearly subscription with them, so this was my last box of this year. I have recently reduced some of the subscription boxes I receive as I have such a backlog piling up and no time at the moment to complete them all, but Craftpod remains my favourite and I can see myself signing up once again when subscriptions open for the spring box.
