I’ve just got back from a wonderful trip to Milan where I visited an exhibition featuring my work! A few weeks ago I was approached by TA-DAAN, an Italian based company that supports artisans, values craftsmanship, and promotes conscious shopping. They were planning an exhibition that celebrates food in craft and invited me to take part.

I, of course, said yes and chose several of my pieces to send over for the exhibition, but I couldn’t resist going over to Milan myself for the launch party – its not every day you get to take part in an international art exhibition! I had a lovely day doing lots of sightseeing around the city visiting the Duomo di Milano and the Castello Sforzesco, and eating pizza and gelato.

In the evening I headed over to the venue where the exhibition is being held. It was a lovely event with music, a food truck, a gelato truck, and beer on tap as well as some live demonstrations of crafts. The exhibition itself was full of fascinating art by artists working in a variety of mediums. Food is the theme of my work and I have a distinctive style, so it was fascinating to me to see how other artists are interpreting that same theme with their own materials and techniques. It was also lovely to meet the founders of TA-DAAN in real life and appreciate their efforts for curating a wonderful exhibition. I thought the way they hung my work was really fun and I will definitely be hanging it like that again.

The other artists work ranged from ceramics, candles, tufting, wax models, and miniatures. There were also some interactive exhibits too, like tic tac toe with the tufted food! You can see more about each artist on the TA-DAAN website.

The exhibition – Foodie: Immaginari da mordere – is open over three weekends during the summer. This weekend, 11th -13th July is the opening weekend, then it will be open to the public again on 1st-3rd August and 12th-14th September in the Milano Certosa District, so if you happen to be in Milan do pop in and take a look!
