The theme of food provides endless inspiration for Caroline. There are so many different food types, from vegetables to junk food, individual items to full meals, that it seems like a never-ending source of ideas to create new pieces. Food is very relatable; people spend a lot of time thinking about, preparing, and eating food.

Caroline’s artwork is made using a variety of textile techniques including traditional embroidery stitches, stumpwork or raised embroidery, soft sculpture and textile construction. All the pieces are hand sewn from start to finish and each piece is an original design by Caroline.

The Inquisitive Bee blog was started as an exploration of lots of different crafts. The name comes from the idea of a bee visiting lots of flowers and bringing back lots of pollen to the hive to make honey. In the same way Caroline tried out lots of different crafts and built up a big crafting knowledge bank to enable her to make beautiful projects. She attended workshops and courses and tried kits, both individual and subscription, to widen her knowledge and tried not to be limited to one type of craft.

The more crafts Caroline tried, the more she realised that textiles was her passion. She completed the Foundation Diploma in Textiles at Morley College in 2022, and explored several different avenues before focusing on hand embroidery and eventually discovering her interest in food.

In 2024 Caroline received the Visitor’s Choice award for her piece ‘Croissant’ at the ‘Visions of Paris’ competition which took place as part of the Creative Craft Show in Birmingham, England. In 2025 Caroline won the Viewer’s Choice award for her piece ‘Fry Up’ at the Broderer’s Exhibition which took place at the Bankside Gallery in London, England. She was shortlisted alongside nineteen other artists and was honoured to receive the prize amongst such a wealth of talent.
